Delegate’s Corner
How shall we treat our founders’ writings?
The trustees’ Literature Committee wants to launch and encourage a fellowship-wide conversation about our founders’ writings: the Big Book, the Twelve & Twelve, and more. Do we want to preserve the writings exactly as they were written? Do we want to make changes or updates? Our members have expressed opinions on both sides of this issue.
Why are we talking about this now?
A Committee Consideration from the 73rd General Service Conference suggested that the trustees’ Literature Committee seek input regarding any possible future changes to our founders’ writings. In response, the committee agreed it would be beneficial to gather shared experience from the Fellowship on this topic.
You can read a letter about our opportunity to participate in this conversation and review some suggested survey questions here. Share these questions with others, including members of your home group. Feel free to share any responses with me at delegate@area15aa.org.
Before you take the survey, take a minute to review an excellent PowerPoint presentation created by Irma V, Western Canada Regional Trustee and trustees’ Literature Committee chair; and Vera F, AAWS non-trustee director, which was shown Feb. 21 at the Area 15 founders’ writings online meeting, here.
Finally, you can review a frequently asked questions document addressed to Southeast Region delegates and alternate delegates from Southeast Regional Trustee Tom H here.
