Responsibilities of Area 15 Accessibilities Committee Officers
Chairperson:
- Attends all scheduled quarterly committee meetings, and virtual meetings where feasible.
- Prepares meeting agenda and chairs the quarterly committee meeting
- Prepares meeting agenda for virtual meetings and chairs the virtual
committee meetings held monthly - Responsible for relaying any information from the Accessibilities desk at our General Service Office to Committee
- Ensures all necessary communication items are provided to the Secretary/Treasurer for distribution to the committee and guests.
- Presents a report of Committee activities orally at the Area business meeting and in written form for inclusion in the Accessibilities Committee and Area minutes.
- Attends planning committee meetings for the Quarterly Coordinator Committee and hosting district on Saturday evening to aid in placing districts that have accessibility barriers closer to the exits where possible.
- Makes arrangements with the American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter for all necessary events at each quarterly.
- Give Committee recommendations on agenda items for the General Service Conference regarding Accessibilities to Area Delegate at the Area Assemblies.
- Committee Chair receives one night’s lodging from Area 15 treasurer.
Suggested Qualifications for Area 15 Accessibilities Committee Chairperson:
- Three years of continuous sobriety
- One year of Accessibilities Committee experience or two years of any standing committee experience
Alternate Chairperson:
- Performs the duties of the Committee Chairperson when Committee Chairperson is absent
- Alternate Committee Chair receives one night’s lodging from Area 15 treasurer when the Committee Chairperson is absent
Suggested Qualifications for Area 15 Alternate Accessibilities Committee Chairperson:
- Three years of continuous sobriety
- One year of Accessibilities Committee experience or two years of any standing committee experience
Secretary/Treasurer:
- Attends all quarterly committee meetings and passes and maintains sign-in sheet
- Keeps a record of District Chairpersons contact information for purposes of communication
- Takes notes and records proceedings of the committee meetings and sends to all persons on the sign-in sheet plus the Area Chairperson and Area Recording Secretary, while maintaining confidentiality
- Requests funds from the Area treasurer when required
- Reports committee expenses verbally at the Area business meeting and written form for inclusion in the Area minutes
- Checks links on Accessibilities Web Page once each quarter to make sure the links are working.
- Secretary/Treasurer receives one night’s lodging from Area 15 treasurer
Suggested Qualifications for Area 15 Accessibilities Committee Secretary/Treasurer:
- Three years of continuous sobriety
- One year of Accessibilities Committee experience or two years of any standing committee experience
