State Convention

Members of the committee include:

The South Florida Area 15 Alternate Delegate, who serves as committee chairperson for the two-year panel
A member of South Florida Area 15 with Florida State Convention organizational experience and/or hotel contract experience who serves as secretary-treasurer of the committee, appointed by the committee chairperson to serve for the two-year panel
The chairperson of the immediate upcoming Florida State Convention when the convention is held in the geographic area of Area 15, or in the absence of such, a past chair or treasurer of a convention held in the geographic area of Area 15, appointed by the committee chairperson

This is the committee’s scope:

Provides oversight of the legal and financial activities of the Florida State Convention when the convention is hosted in the geographic area of South Florida Area 15
Coordinates with the Joint Advisory Committee of the Florida State Convention to define and manage the site selection process for conventions
Reviews bids from those interested in hosting a Florida State Convention in the geographic area of Area 15 at the January meeting two years ahead of the convention, offering review, possible revisions and recommendations
Ensures that the convention, when in the geographic area of Area 15, remains self-supporting, utilizing the existing 501(c)(3) and the Joint Advisory Committee for continuity
Receives profit and loss/budget vs. actual financial statements of the hosting committee; monitors the process when the convention is in the geographic area of Area 15
Sets the Joint Advisory Committee reserve fund level, periodically reviewing it for possible revision
Hears reports from chairpersons responsible for hosting conventions in the geographic areas of both Area 14 and Area 15 and receives final reports at the conclusion of conventions
