Outreach Committee Position Descriptions
Chairperson Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years sobriety
- Willingness to plan and execute Outreach events
- Previous experience on a District or Area Committee
- Review Area 15 current practice pertaining to the Outreach Committee
- Ability to assist in hosting meetings online using the Area 15 Zoom account
- Ongoing relationship with our Steps, Traditions and Concepts through AA Literature
- Open mindedness in using a wide range of technology for sharing information to communicate effectively
Chairperson Responsibilities:
- Communicate (in person, online, phone, text or email) with Area Committee Chairpersons, District Chairpersons and other members regarding ideas for reaching out to the fellowship to bring events that will enhance our Area 15 experience.
- Plan presentations, select presenters and design fliers for events facilitated by the Outreach Committee.
- Communicate with the Web Servant to keep the Committees web page up-to-date and provide details of any events to be held in person or online on the Area 15 Zoom account no less than 10 days prior to the event.
- Attend the Quarterly Business Meeting to deliver an oral report on the Outreach Committee activities and finances; emailing a written report to the Spanish language interpreter/translator and the Recording Secretary for inclusion in the minutes (by midnight, the night before).
- Present new officers at the Area 15 Quarterly business meeting as part of the Outreach Committee report.
- Update the Outreach Committee’s Composition, Scope, Procedure and Committee officer position Qualifications and Responsibilities to submit to the Current Practice Committee by July 31 of even-numbered years.
- Review responsibilities with the incoming Outreach Committee Chairperson and pass on relevant materials prior to the start of the new panel in the spirit of rotation.
Alternate Chair Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years sobriety
- Willingness to plan and execute Outreach events
- Previous experience on a District or Area Committee
- Review Area 15 current practice pertaining to the Outreach Committee
- Ability to assist in hosting meetings online using the Area 15 Zoom account
- Ongoing relationship with our Steps, Traditions and Concepts through AA Literature
- Open mindedness in using a wide range of technology for sharing information to communicate effectively
Alternate Chair Responsibilities:
- Chair all Area 15 Outreach Committee meetings.
- Create and maintain a communication list to pass around for all that wish to stay informed with the Outreach Committee.
- Remain available to assume the responsibilities of the Outreach Committee Chairperson in their absence.
Secretary/Treasurer Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years sobriety
- Willingness to plan and execute Outreach events
- Previous experience on a District or Area Committee
- Review Area 15 current practice pertaining to the Outreach Committee
- Ability to keep records of the Outreach Committee meetings and finances
- Ongoing relationship with our Steps, Traditions and Concepts through AA Literature
- Open mindedness in using a wide range of technology for sharing information to communicate effectively
Secretary/Treasurer Responsibilities:
- Attend Committee meetings and take minutes to send to committee members within a week after meeting.
- Give an oral and/or written report on Committee finances as needed.
- Track expenses of the Committee and submit receipts to the Treasurer for monies spent.
- Work with Committee Chairperson to provide budget requests to the Finance Committee by July 31 of each year for Outreach Committee funding for the following year.
- Return all unspent budgeted Outreach Committee funds to the Treasurer prior to Dec. 31 of each year.
