Legacy of Service for Area 15 Committees

Each of the 17 committees in South Florida Area 15 have a composition, scope and procedure, which explain the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the committee. We learn in a committee’s composition, scope and procedure who serves on the committee; what the committee is responsible for carrying out in service to the Area and its Districts; and the procedures the committee employs to carry out its responsibilities.

Additionally, the officers of each committee – the chairperson, alternate chairperson, secretary-treasurer, etc., – have a defined list of responsibilities in service to the committee. To ensure that our committees attract good service leaders and that the committees offer sound and appropriate methods of choosing them, as Concept IX recommends, Area 15 committees have suggested requirements for their officers. Some of these requirements are stated in the Area 15 current practice that created the committee; others are enumerated in the A.A. Service Manual.
