Delegate’s Communication Roundtable

Thanks to the more than 70 members of Area 15 who came together Oct. 1 to begin an investigation of how communication flows from the delegate up the triangle to members and from members back down the triangle to the delegate. It was encouraging to see such enthusiastic participation from GSRs, DCMs, district chairs, district and area standing committee members, and past delegates. You can find notes from our session here. No names or service positions appear in keeping with guidelines for area sharing sessions in The A.A. Service Manual.

What you’ll find in the notes are thoughts from members on three key questions: What are we doing well, what are we doing that we might want to re-examine, and what might we want to begin doing in the realm of delegate communication to members of Area 15. I’m excited to share that based on your great ideas, I’ve decided to form a delegate’s communication working group to continue the discussion and to brainstorm next steps for communication improvement.

If you weren’t able to attend the roundtable, or if you attended but did not share, or if you shared but have more to say, I hope you will consider letting me know your thoughts about what is working, what could be better, and most important, any ideas you have for steps we can take to improve the communication that comes to you from me regarding the General Service Conference, the General Service Board, and the General Service Office. Gracias a los más de 70 miembros del Área 15 que se reunieron el 1 de octubre para comenzar una investigación sobre cómo fluye la comunicación desde el delegado hacia arriba en el triángulo hasta los miembros y desde los miembros hacia abajo en el triángulo hasta el delegado. Fue alentador ver la participación tan entusiasta de los RSG, los MCD, los presidentes de distrito, los miembros de los comités permanentes de distrito y área, y los antiguos delegados. En las notas encontrarán las opiniones de los miembros sobre tres preguntas clave: ¿Qué estamos haciendo bien?, ¿Qué estamos haciendo que quizá debamos reconsiderar? y ¿Qué podríamos empezar a hacer en el ámbito de la comunicación de los delegados con los miembros del Área 15? Me complace compartir que, basándome en sus excelentes ideas, he decidido formar un grupo de trabajo sobre la comunicación de los delegados para continuar el debate y proponer ideas sobre los próximos pasos para mejorar la comunicación.

Si no pudieron asistir a la mesa redonda, o si asistieron pero no compartieron sus opiniones, o si compartieron sus opiniones pero tienen más que decir, espero que consideren la posibilidad de comunicarme sus ideas sobre lo que funciona, lo que podría mejorarse y, lo más importante, cualquier idea que tengan sobre las medidas que podemos tomar para mejorar la comunicación que les envío en relación con la Conferencia de Servicios Generales, la Junta de Servicios Generales y la Oficina de Servicios Generales.
